My name is Louise and I am the barber behind the scissors. I have started this new business venture on the back of 20 years healthcare experience. I relocated to England with my family due to my partners work commitments, in doing this I gave up my job as a deputy manager of a residential care home in Belfast. Having spent a year as a stay at home mum I wanted to get back to full time employment but felt ready for a fresh challenge, however I was keen to ensure that my 20 years’ experience in healthcare wasn’t wasted and would in some way be incorporated in my future plans. Working within the ever changing care home environment a person centred approach to therapy lead activities is a key element to good and continuing care, however it has been noted that the Gent is much more difficult to cater for and that the words man and pamper don’t often go together……..until now!
With 20 years care experience also comes care related qualifications, I have a level 3 diploma in health and social care, alongside first aid, protection of vulnerable adults, infection control, manual handling, COSHH & RIDDOR, Basic Food hygiene, Fire safety. My experience includes working with adults with learning difficulties, mental health and dementia within a residential care home environment. I have completed a barbering diploma and a diploma in traditional wet shaves.
Here at memory lane barber I intend to bring a new experience to the care home, creating an old school barber shop within the care home. I hope to achieve this by transforming a room for the day by introducing barber shop signage, a barber’s pole, and a retro record player. The services I will provide will include of course, short back and sides and any other kind of cut requested by the client. I will be providing wet shaves using a badger brush and cream, this will take the client back to their roots. I can provide a cut throat razor cut on special request. I hope to create a relaxing environment whilst taking a trip down memory lane through music and chat. In my kit bag included in the price of a shave some good old favourites….. Old Spice, Brut, Brylcreem and many more.
Here at memory lane barber I aim to give you the perfect hair cut and experience. Leave the cutting to me and relax within the environment I have created for you. I have been trained in various techniques and styles. I am happy to provide you with a scissor or clipper cut, wet or dry.
Please see the hair services list for more details.
Lets face it shaving for most men is a chore, here at memory lane barber I would like to take you back to your roots, no pun intended! The average shave time for a man is between 3-3.5 minutes, however here at memory lane barber the shaving experience will take a minimum of 40 minutes, From consultation to the final application of moisturiser. You will experience facial preparation, a close shave finished off with a soothing balm and moisturiser. In my bag I will also have a few old favourites for you to choose from. I want this shaving experience to help you relax and take you back to a time when you first started shaving.
Please see the shaving services list for more details.
I believe that memory lane barber will provide much more than a short back and sides and I am excited by what the future holds and look forward to watching memory lane barber grow.
